IOS 16 Lets you Connect Nintendo Switch Controllers to your IPhone or IPad


Do you have a Nintendo Switch and occasionally enjoy playing mobile games on your iPhone or iPad? You'll be happy to know that the iOS 16 update will allow users to connect Nintendo Joy-Con controllers directly to your Apple device. It's one of the five hidden features coming in the new operating system.

In the last few years, game makers have introduced more complicated gameplay to the mobile experience. Services like Xbox Cloud Gaming and GeForce Now allow you to play games such as Call of Duty, Fortnite and Apex Legends which aren't easy to control on your mobile device. A gaming controller could be required if your tablet or phone has smaller screens than your television.



Apple doesn't have to be the first company to utilize third-party controllers. You can pair the DualSense for PlayStation and the wireless controller from Xbox to your iPhone or iPad.  Premiumebooks Other controllers like the Razer Kishi and the Backbone One are specifically made for mobile gaming.

If you already own a Nintendo Switch, there's no need to buy a third-party gaming controller. There are two connected to the two sides of your console. And best of all, connecting the Joy-Cons with your iPhone or iPad takes only two minutes.



This is only applicable if you have iOS 16, which is currently in an open beta. Here's how to download it now.



How to pair the Joy-Cons of your iPhone or iPad First, you'll want to ensure that your Joy-Cons are fully charged and ready for use. If not, just connect them to the Nintendo Switch while it's charging in the dock. Once your Joy-Cons have been charged, take them off your console.



1. First, press and hold down the black pairing button that is located on top of the Joy-Con until the green light starts running back and back. This means the Joy-Con is now in pairing mode.



2. Then, go to Settings > Bluetooth on your iPhone/iPad.



3. Scroll down to locate your Joy-Con in Other Devices. You'll find either Joy-Con (L) or Joy-Con (R), depending on the Joy-Con that you're currently pairing.



4. Finally, tap the Joy-Con option to connect it. If necessary you want to repeat the process, just do it using the other Joy-Con.

Once your Joy-Cons are paired with each other, you can launch any game that is compatible with third-party controllers, like Minecraft, Among Us and Call of Duty, and play with your newly paired Joy-Cons. Certain mobile games do not support both Joy-Con controllers simultaneously, so you might only need one.



To remove the Joy-Cons from the network go to Settings >Bluetooth, tap the blue information icon, and then hit Disconnect.
